 Totton Festival of Drama

The award winning Totton one act play festival celebrates the great talent of local amateur dramatic groups

The Totton Festival is a regional round one of the All England Theatre Festival, the only national eliminating One Act Play competition, and also the Hampshire round of the 5 Counties Youth Festival.

The festival, taking place each March, is open to all amateur drama groups, schools and colleges and is a fantastic learning tool for both groups and audiences alike with professional adjudications for every play.

About the society

We are a community amateur dramatic society based at the University of Southampton. We put on two major productions at the Nuffield Theatre a year as well  one act play evenings, children’s outdoor productions and murder mysteries. In addition we regularly participate in local drama festivals. As well as our theatrical productions we organise a range of social events including theatre trips, play readings and quiz nights as well as offering members the chance to attend workshops to learn backstage skills.

Interested in joining us?

Membership is open to people of all ages from the local community, including current and past university staff and Alumni. We are a small and very friendly society, with a real team spirit and are always looking to welcome new members. Whether you would like to act, direct, stage manage, make costumes, find props or simply join us for play readings, we would love to hear from you. We welcome the experienced and also those with no or limited experience but are keen to learn. You will receive all the support and encouragement you need. As a member you will receive our monthly newsletter as well as be eligible to participate in any of our productions or events.
