We’re a friendly, sociable society, and aim for something to be happening every month: a social get-together, play reading, maybe a theatre trip – and of course rehearsals each week in the run-up to a production.

As a member, you are eligible to get involved with all productions and events, and will receive regular email news and updates. 

If you’re thinking of joining but aren’t sure if SUP is right for you, please come along to a rehearsal, play reading or social and meet us. You’re guaranteed a warm welcome – and there’s no obligation to join.

SUP isn’t just about acting: we’re always on the look-out for new members and fresh ideas, including support backstage and behind-the-scenes with technical crew, costumes, make-up, marketing, social media, events and more. What would you like to do? No previous experience necessary!

Annual subscription fees are only £24 standard membership – that works out at just £2 a month – or £10 for students and £5 for under 18s

Did you know? SUP does not charge a joining fee and does not charge a production fee, unlike other local am drama groups. 

Annual subscriptions are due each September at the time of our AGM.

We also offer ‘SUP Supporter’ membership for £42 per year (£3.50 a month) if you’d like to contribute a little more to help us bring community theatre to all – and an ‘SUP Benefactor’ membership from £60 per year to support our efforts. This is available to individuals and companies as well as members who wish to support our work but do not necessarily want to play an active role. Annual benefits including free programmes at our shows and an annual Benefactors’ Evening with the SUP Committee. The (not so) small print:

I wish to become a member of SUP Theatre Company (Southampton University Players) and agree to comply with the rules of the society.

As a member I understand that I am entirely responsible for my own safety and property at all times, and that Southampton University Players cannot and will not accept liability for any injury or loss at any time or in any place.

I understand that if I become a member, my details may be retained by the Southampton University Players’ Committee on the SUP membership list, which is stored securely – and that this list will not be shared with non-Committee members or shared with/sold on to any external third parties. The only information that SUP needs to retain is my full name and email address (or other preferred method of contact) for use by the SUP Committee and/or Chair for society-related communications. I hereby give permission for this, in line with current data protection regulations and legislation.

I also agree that my image in photographs and on film or video footage in connection with SUP productions, events, socials and other SUP-related activities may be used for SUP publicity purposes including but not restricted to the SUP website, mailshots, posters, articles in newspapers and other publications including online, social media (e.g. twitter, Facebook), the worldwide web and other promotional activity.
